Circus Circus Las Vegas is a beloved resort known for its family-friendly atmosphere and has exciting news to share. A brand-new addition to the property is on the horizon, the world’s first SpongeBob dark ride, based on the wildly popular Nickelodeon animated series. The upcoming attraction, named SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride, is set to debut at the Adventuredome indoor theme park this winter.

With an investment of $6 million, this interactive dark ride promises a side-splittingly funny and engaging experience, immersing visitors in the undersea world of SpongeBob SquarePants. The ride will be created by Sally Dark Rides and according to an item on their website, it is said to feature ”vibrant sets, special effects, animatronics, and vivid integrated projections.” It also stated that the attraction will feature vehicles that can seat up to 5 guests at once.

SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride will feature a specially created story. The adventure begins with Mr. Krabs inviting guests and encouraging them to test their luck at a series of wacky carnival midway games. Meanwhile, his perennial foe, Plankton, is hatching a scheme to finally get a hold of the coveted ‘Krabby Patty’ secret formula that is the success to Mr. Krabs’ restaurant the Krusty Krab.

“We couldn’t be more excited about our collaboration with Circus Circus Las Vegas to bring the first ever interactive SpongeBob dark ride to life.” shared Marie Marks, Senior Vice President of Themed Entertainment at Paramount.

Shana Gerety, Senior Vice President of Operations at Circus Circus, also expressed her excitement on the SpongeBob dark ride: “We are thrilled to add the globally recognized characters of SpongeBob SquarePants to Circus Circus. Guests from all over the world will love how the over-the-top optimism and humor that SpongeBob SquarePants embodies is integrated in this exciting new attraction.”

While the Adventuredome has hosted many different rides and attractions over the years, this marks the first time a full fledged dark ride will be installed. SpongeBob is no stranger to the world of theme parks, as back in 2003 the short film ‘SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D’ was created and shown in many 4D cinemas around the world. A sequel, ‘The Great Jelly Rescue’, was introduced in 2013.
