Today, Circus Circus Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas (NV, U.S.A.) celebrated the opening of their newest attraction: SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride. Guests of the interactive dark ride are invited by Mr. Krabs to come and play a variety of midway games. They are immersed in the world of SpongeBob SquarePants and meet many of the characters of the popular Nickelodeon cartoon.
SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride was announced at the IAAPA Expo in Orlando in November, last year. The six-and-a-half-minute dark ride was designed by Sally Dark Rides, who also created multiple animatronics for it. It features a trackless ride system by ETF Ride Systems and interactive media by Alterface. Circus Circus invested a total of $6 million in the new attraction.
The Circus Circus Hotel & Casino on the famous Las Vegas Strip held an opening ceremony for the new attraction earlier today. The ceremony was led by the operator’s general manager Shana Gerety, together with Marie Marks, Senior Vice President of Paramount Global Experiences and John Wood, CEO of Sally Dark Rides. After a short introduction of the collaborating companies, the three of them cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the attraction.
Guests of Circus Circus are lured towards the attraction by Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob’s greedy boss. He persuades us to come and visit his carnival. Once seated in one of the vehicles, guests will get to play various Midway style games. SpongeBob and his best friend Patrick are helping supplying goods to each of the stalls. When they accidentally mix up a crate of Krabby Patty ingredients, guests suddenly find themselves shooting tomatoes, buns and patties at the stalls. These ingredients attract the attention of Plankton, Mr. Krabs arch enemy, bent on acquiring the secret formula of the famous Krabby Patty.
Contrary to previous reports by the DRdb, the attraction is not located in the Adventuredome theme park, but instead operates as a stand-alone attraction in the Circus Circus Hotel & Casino. Tickets are available for $20 a piece. A second installation of SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride is already set to open later this year at Land of Legends Theme Park (Türkiye).
