Universal Beijing Resort opens on September 20th 2021

Today Universal Beijing Resort revealed the grand opening plans on their website. On September 20th 2021 the theme park along with two accompanying hotels and entertainment complex CityWalk will be officially opened to the public after over 4 years of construction and at least one delay. It marks the first time in 10 years a new Universal themed resort will be opened, with currently the most recent addition to the family being Universal Studios Singapore, opened at 2011.

The Universal Studios Beijing park with a budget of $3.3 billion spans an area of 53 hectares, about a third of the entire resort’s size. As for featured dark rides, we recently reported on the first onride of Jurassic World Adventure, which is considered to be one of the park’s flagship rides. Free flow boat ride Kung Fu Panda Journey of the Dragon Warrior will be the world’s first dark ride based on the popular IP.

Furthermore, the park will feature installations of classic Universal dark rides, namely Transformers: Battle for the AllSparks (Transformers: The Ride 3D) and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. There will also be an installation of simulator Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem. In the meantime, selected guests will be able to experience the park during the so-called Trial Operations, starting from September 1st.
