Haunting

When the ride opened in 1996, it was a lot scarier and had a more sinister tone. The antagonist was originally the sinister yet jovial reverend Nicholas Fields, who plans to open a portal to the "black universe" so that his master can crossover. In 2005, the character was replaced with a vampire who had more dialogue but with the same intentions. In 2015 the ride underwent a major refurbishment which saw it become a bit more family friendly, though still with a scary undertone. The vampire was replaced with a vengeful spirit who wants to be at peace. Ultimately, in 2019, the far more demonic "lady of the house" was introduced along with the new score using audio from Midnight Syndicate.

Verlies des Grauens was themed by Space Leisure, just like Verlies des Grauens (Belantis). These rides show similarities in the theming of the main show, like the grinning faces in pillars on the walls.
