    Description

Geister Rikscha is an Omnimover ghost train inspired by Chinese mythology featuring dragons, a haunted ship and a palace with Pepper's Ghosts. The majority of the ride is built underground and runs underneath the China Town section of the park. The final few scenes and station are situated at ground level.

"Geister Rikscha" is German for "Ghost Rickshaw".

    History

Geister Rikscha was the second dark ride to open in Phantasialand, after Gondelbahn 1001 Nacht. Its name and general theme was borrowed from Geister-Rikscha, a transportable ghost train by Mack that one of the park's founders Löffelhardt used to travel around the funfairs with. The Omnimover system was specially created by the famous Anton Schwarzkopf and was the only Omnimover installation supplied by him.

Geister Rikscha has been updated many times over the years, most notably in 1997 and 2002.

In 1997, the old, standard queue was redesigned to resemble a forest and the scene featuring a kraken was replaced with sword-fighting crocodiles (taken from the animatronic show Tanakra Theater, also found in the China Town section of the park). In 2002, the scene with the rickshaw in the snow was replaced with a treasure room, and also saw the addition of an entirely new audio system which put the original on-board one out of commission.

Still regularly scenes are edited with new masks and clothing for the animatronics or new lighting.
