    Description

Also known as Gondelfahrt 1001 Nacht, after departing the station the ride would be outdoors. Guests would then enter the mouth of a dragon to find themselves in the world of Arabian Nights, featuring scenes based on Ali Baba and Sindbad the Sailor to name a few. It opened in 1970 as the first stationary dark ride of Germany. The marionettes were created by park founder Richard Schmidt but most were replaced with traditional animatronics later on.

''Gondelbahn 1001 Nacht'' is German for ''1001 Nights Gondolatrack''.

    History

Originally, single ships departed the station, this was later changed to three at once. There was no music to be heard in the early years, presumably during the mid 80s the soundtrack of Caravans by Mike Batt was added. Following the events of the devastating Phantasialand fire in 2001, some elements of the ride like cloths on the ceiling had to be removed. Around this time, the layout was shortened slightly, with the first curve leading outside to be taken sharper so that it would no longer pass over a main road. After the 2009 season, Gondelbahn was removed to make way for the Kaiserplatz and souvenirshop Haus der 6 Drachen.
