The well known popcorn characters of Walibi Belgium’s Popcorn Revenge have found their way across the earth into Japan. In their first outing outside the Belgium themepark they can be found in Japan’s Hamanako Pal Pal park. The well recognizable creatures are now ready to be shot at in this interactive theatre.

Hamanako Pal Pal is a resort style amusement park in the center of the Honshu island, located near the city of Hamamatsu. The park features over 30 rides, including several roller coasters, a large collection of flat rides and two dark rides: Dragon Fighter and Pal Pal Stadion. Both are interactive dark rides, with Pal Pal Stadion being the most unique because of the use of a button in the car as trigger for the interactive elements.

Popcorn Panic replaces the Pirates Adventure show ride, which was located in the building before. It is unknown whether the ride is a retheme or is entirely new. Popcorn Panic combines China’s SHUQEE’s specialized seat technology with the interactive system of Alterface. While this is a new combination Kaz Kobayashi, CEO of Curiosity Japan states “I believe Alterface is a wonderful partner with the ability to adapt to any situation. We’re enthusiastic about continuing to create thrilling attractions together!”

The ride has been open since July 15th, but Alterface only recently posted about it on their socials. The ride in Hamanako Pal Pal is the third outing of Alterface in the region, opening the Pirate Plunder in 2009 in the same park as well as a copy of that ride in Tokyo’s Joypolis.
