Tussauds Studios is the production room of the Tussauds Group. In its heydays, Tussauds Studios designed new rides and experiences for the group's theme parks such as Alton Towers. Nowadays, just like in the early days, the Studios focus solely on creating wax figures.
Being a waxworks museum since the 1700s, Tussauds Group started in the theme park business when the group was acquired by Pearson PLC, who already owned Chessington Zoo. The group grew into the industry, changing Chessington into the theme park it is today, acquiring amongst others Alton Towers and investing in PortAventura. Tussauds Studios has always been the creative division creating plans and designs for all locations of the Tussauds Group. The complete group was acquired by Merlin Entertainments in 2007. Nowadays, the creative division for the theme parks is known as Merlin Magic Making, while the Tussauds Studios still exist as production site of waxworks.
