Description
Omnimover ride which took guests past various dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. It was inspired by Universe of Energy at Walt Disney World Resort's EPCOT and constructed in the cellar of enclosed coaster Eurosat which opened in 1989. Just like Universe of Energy, it including solar panels on the entrance roof but instead of powering the ride vehicles, they powered the emergency lighting.
''Universum der Energie'' is German for ''Universe of Energy''.
History
The Omnimover gondolas were re-used from ''Ville d'Ys - Le Voyage sous la Mer'' at Mirapolis in France which went bankrupt in 1991. Universum der Energie was opened in 1994 in the cellar of enclosed roller coaster Eurosat which itself opened in 1989.
Originally, guests watched a movie featuring various landscapes from around the globe and stop-motion dinosaurs. Later, an animatronic Tyrannosaurus was added to the outside of the building to entice guests to come inside.
The entrance area and queue line were redesigned in 2004. No longer was the pre-show movie shown and instead, a walkthrough decorated as a research lab and base camp started off the adventure. The animatronic Tyrannosaurus was moved inside next to the existing Tyrannosaurus, near the end of the ride.
Universum der Energie closed on 5 November 2017 to be rethemed in the winter, while the above Eurosat was being rethemed as well.
