Description
The story behind this dark ride is that ancient Egyptian remnants are awakened by aliens. Riders are asked to shoot the remnants. The entrance of the ride resembles the famous Abu Simbel temple with addition of a few metal parts referring to the alien invasion. The name 'Ramses: Il Risveglio' was chosen by readers of the Gardaland newsletter.
"Ramses: Il Risveglio" is Italian for "Ramses; The Awakening".
History
The original ride La Valle dei Re (The Valley of Kings) opened in 1987 and was a traditional dark ride in Egyptian style. The ride closed in 2008 and got a complete overhaul. The Egyptian theme remained, but the storyline of the awakened remnants was added. The ride system was updated with an interactive shooting system made by Lagotronics Systems.
The ride closed at the end of the 2020 season, its building was reused for Jumanji: the Adventure.
