Description
Knott's Bear-y Tales was a dark ride that takes guests on a colorful adventure to the Country Fair. Guests start off in the Factory where the Bear-y Family is making pies and Crafty Coyote is stealing them. They then travel to Frog Forest filled with bouncing frogs and blacklight visuals. The Fortune Tellers Camp where fortunes are told through Sarah's crystal ball or Theda's deck of playing cards. The Thunder Cave where thunder is around every corner complete with fuzzy spiders. The Weird Woods which is home to an amazing collection of strange critters, nightmare-ish trees, and Crafty Coyote himself. Eventually, guests reach the home stretch by reaching the Country Fair where all the characters come together to celebrate.
The original dark ride closed in 1986 and became the inspiration for Knott's Bear-Y Tales: Return to the Fair that opened in 2021.
History
The original attraction opened in July 1975 as part of the then new Roaring 20s area of Knott's. The ride was supposed to open in June, but due to a fire incident the attraction opened a month after the Roaring 20s made its debut.
Some of the props of Knott's Bear-y Tales were stored and later used for the Bear-Y Tales Playhouse.
