Description
Derren Brown's Ghost Train was a hybrid dark ride combining a prototype motion simulator ride and virtual reality. After a preshow, the motion simulator ride was split into two sections, separated by a walkthrough section with live actors. Both ride portions take place on a London Underground railway carriage in which guests watch a Virtual Reality (VR) movie, enhanced by motion simulator effects.
The first VR section could contain three different possible characters.
The ride uses three vehicles which operate along two parallel tracks, alternating between these via transfer tracks, with the vehicles stopping at various points for scenes or motion to take place. The theme combines a major Derren Brown-style illusion with a modern horror story.
History
In 2017, minor modifications were made including replacing the second VR scene and a post-show scene themed as a false ride shop, with the tagline 'Rise of the Demon' added. The original train crash scene was removed part-way into the ride's second season due to irrepairable malfunction and was replaced by a short strobe maze section.
