Description
The experience of this extensively themed rollercoaster starts with a themed indoor queue line where guests enter the medieval city of Novgorod. After boarding the vehicles, riders are presented two scenes before being launched into the outdoor rollercoaster part. After re-entering the building the ride features a vertical lifthill (including projections) and vertical drop into the final coaster part which takes place entirely indoors. After disembarking the vehicles, guest must follow a maze to find their way towards the ride's exit.
The storyline of the ride is about a 14th century trader in the Hanseatic League, who is searching for his father who mysteriously vanished in the Russian city of Novgorod.
"Flucht von Novgorod" is German for "Escape from Novgorod".
History
Construction of Fluch von Novgorod was delayed due to a cold winter in 2008/'09. By April 2009 the ride was technically finished, but the theming was not. Hansa Park decided to open the ride in 2009, but not work on the theming during the season. The theming (and dark ride part) were finished for the 2010 season.
For the 2021 season, the ride was renamed from "Fluch von Novgorod" ("Curse of Novgorod") to "Flucht von Novgorod" ("Escape from Novgorod"). The ride's theme remained the same.
