An official announcement was made back in May of this year that the family owned park had been up for sale since October 2019 – ideally with continued plans to operate, but if necessary as a potential for other development. As of 2nd August 2021, has now been sold to developers.

The park, located in Portrush, contains a number of attractions including roller coasters and flat rides. Of particular note, ‘Ghost Train‘, is one of only two existing entries in our database for Northern Ireland. The ride opened in 1968 and was only recently rethemed by Dead Walk Design for the 2018 season. The park was not planning to reopen until sale had been agreed and it is now not known whether Barry’s Amusements will reopen at all. The park has been closed during the period that the park was on sale.

Barry’s Amusements has been operating since 1926 and was Northern Ireland’s longest running amusement park.
