Disney has recently shared the opening date and a first-ever look inside the highly anticipated new ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World – Magic Kingdom. The log flume is a retheme of the famous Splash Mountain that closed in January 2023.

In the second episode of the Youtube series, We Call It Imagineering, Walt Disney Imagineering explores the process of creating music for various Disney attractions and offers a sneak peek into the upcoming ride inspired by the 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog.  Set to open at the end of the month at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, the ride will feature original music as well as tracks from the movie.

In the video, we get to hear from various musical professionals about what we have to look forward to in the upcoming attraction. Grammy award winning composer, Terence Blanchard, was brought on to create about 90 minutes of original music for the queue combining traditional and modern jazz with “street band” elements.  Another Grammy award winning musician, PJ Morton (keyboardist for the band Maroon 5), shares his excitement at being among the first to experience the new ride and hear the finale song he wrote, sung by Tiana voice performer, Anika Noni Rose, in its final form.

We are given a few glimpses of the ride itself including an opening greeting from an impressive Tiana animatronic wearing a chef’s outfit to a grand finale scene featuring seemingly dozens of brightly colored, expressive, animatronic characters.

Disney has announced that the ride will officially open on Friday, June 28, at the Florida theme park.  There is still no official date announced for the California version, however it is still expected to open some time at the end of this year.
