For months, rumors have circulated about the future of multiple attractions at Universal Studios Florida, and confirmation of one such rumor came from Central Florida reporter Ashley Carter on Wednesday.
Shrek 4D, a motion simulator attraction that opened in 2003 will close in January of 2022, with future plans for the location not yet announced. The closure leaves no American variation of the attraction operating after Orlando’s closes, with Shrek 4D at Universal Studios Hollywood having closed in 2017. Shrek 4D features seating from SimEx-Iwerks and an original film set between the first two movies of the Shrek franchise. The attraction has been reproduced at Universal’s Singapore and Osaka parks (where it still shows), and the film also played at Movie Park Germany and Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia in the past.
Just confirmed with Universal Orlando that Shrek 4D will permanently close January 10, 2022. The adjacent gift shop, Shrek's Ye Olde Souvenir Shoppe, will also close. pic.twitter.com/rU5qCTevWg
