Description
The boat ride itself is the key element, the grand finale of the exhibition. It takes us on a 20 minute journey featuring some sort of travel around the world, with some points of interest in Portuguese history. There are only a handful animatronics, most of the figurines are static. There is onboard soundtrack that can be switched to different languages and screens that display, mostly, advertising for the attraction.
About halfway throught the ride, the boats travel through a greenhouse-sort of building. The daylight in that scene results this ride to qualify for a semi-dark ride.
History
Opened in 1994, World of Discoveries served as an interactive exhibition to bring visitors closer the portuguese history. Several themed rooms with exhibits on display explaining how Portugal once owned the biggest colonies in the world and how important trading was.
