The official opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is nearing. The newest attraction of Dinsey’s EPCOT (FL, U.S.A.) is an indoor rollercoaster that features a a number of dark ride scenes. The ride is currently in a testing phase where test audience can ride the new attractions. This resulted in some great reviews and the very first onride video.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is based on the popular Guardians of the Galaxy-film franchise by Marvel. During the experience, visitors are asked to join a ship of Nova Corps to travel to the planet of Xandar. To reach the planet, the ship needs to use a Cosmic Generator that can create portals in space. However, visitors will soon find out that the generator is stolen by a super villain that wants to erase the Nova Corps from time. Riders are asked to join the Guardians of the Galaxy on a quest through the galaxy and retrieve the Cosmic Generator. YouTube channel Theme Park Shark created a video of the full ride experience, including queueline and pre-show.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the first rollercoaster of the EPCOT park in Walt Disney World. The rollercoaster was developed by Vekoma and takes the record for the longest enclosed coaster in the world, beating Crazy Bats at Phantasialand, Germany, also build by Vekoma. The ride features cars with controlled spinning and an onboard soundtrack. The main soundtrack of the ride is in vein with those of the movies and features existing songs mostly from the 70s and 80s:
- One Way or Another by Blondie.
- Disco Inferno by The Trammps
- Conga by Gloria Estefan
- September by Earth Wind & Fire
- Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears
- I Ran by A Flock of Seagulls
The soundtrack is randomized, only one of these songs will play during the ride. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open to the public on May 27. Before that day, the ride will be in soft-opening for invited guests and press.
