Merlin Entertainment is opening two new Legoland Discovery Centers in the United States in 2021. The center in New Jersey, that was previously scheduled to open on May 4th, announced another delay. Meanwhile, the center in Milpitas, CA has announced an opening for May 25th.

Legoland Discovery Centers are small scale indoor Legoland theme parks, aimed at children. Merlin Entertainment has opened over 20 of these centers in the past 15 years. They all contain an iconic Legoland Miniland, play area’s, a 3D Cinema and a small dark ride. While older centers contain the interactive Kingdom Quest dark ride (developed by ETF-Ride Systems and Alterface), the newer centers, including the ones in New Jersey and California, contain an Imagination Express. The Imagination Express is also an interactive dark ride developed by Alterface.

Both Legoland Discovery Centers were supposed to open in the spring of 2020, but the outbreak of Covid-19 caused the opening to be delayed. The center in New Jersey has not yet announced a new opening date.
