Today marks the official opening of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi’s (U.A.E.) Mission Ferrari. The long-awaited expansion for the Ferrari-branded indoor park takes on the form of a largely enclosed roller coaster with dark ride sections. It was only a few weeks ago, near the end of December, that the official opening date was announced.
Marketed as ”the world’s most immersive mega-coaster” and featuring the world’s first sideways coaster drop, fans have been eager to try out Mission Ferrari ever since it was announced in 2014. The original plan was to have the coaster, which was manufactured by Dynamic Attractions, operating in 2015. Unfortunately for the park, problem after problem caused the opening to be delayed over almost 8 years.
A select few annual pass holders were invited to test out the ride on 5 January, of which a short promotional video was shared on the park’s social media channels. What exactly awaits visitors on the dark ride segments has been kept a mystery, but it likely shouldn’t take long before the first proper onride videos will find their way online.
