    Description

Silbermine was the main attraction of the Silver City area of the park, a Western village. It was a large scale dark ride in Mexican theme with an endless chain system decorated as a train, going through a mine where the people have struck silver. Next, the train would go through a Mexican village where the now rich people could be seen partying. Afterwards a fire breaks out, causing panic. The final scene depicted the Battle of the Alamo, with the Mexicans celebrating their independence. Over 120 animatronics were featured.

    "Silbermine" is German for 'Silvermine''.

    History

Originally, Silbermine was supposed to open shortly after the rest of Silver City as the foundation was already laid in 1978. However, it was decided to first build the China Town area (1981) including Geister Rikscha. Finally, Silbermine opened in 1984 after the Zeittunnel opened on the top floor of the building the year before. Following the events of the devastating fire in 2001, some modifications like the removal of some theming had to be done. Due to Phantasialand's limited space the ride was removed at the end of the 2014 to make way for the Klugheim area.

A section of the dark ride hall was kept in between Klugheim and China Town, serving as a general storage area and workplace for decorators. A section of the decor and a handful of animatronics are also still laying around.
