Description
The Seeräuberfahrt was a free flow boat ride on the park's artifical lake. It consisted primarely of a trip around the sides of the lake and featured a cave about halfway through in which pirate scenes could be viewed. The original figures were made by Phantasialand designer Richard Schmidt.
"Seeräuberfahrt nach Carthagena" is German for "Pirate Trip to Cartagena".
History
The boats were originally made of real wood but later replaced. The ride itself was also upgraded multiple times including new animatronics and decor. The cave with pirate scenes was destroyed in a storm during 1978, prompting a rebuild in a slightly different theme and re-opening as Wikinger Bootsfahrt in 1979.
Rethemed versions:
- Seeräuberfahrt nach Carthagena (1968-1978)
- Wikinger Bootsfahrt (1979-1999)
