    Description

Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle was built as part of a series of Scooby-Doo dark rides. The design was based on Sally Dark Rides' Ghost Blasters ride concept, combined with the IP of the Scooby-Doo franchise. Riders were asked to help Scooby, Shaggy and their friends and shoot ghosts that are taking over a mansion.

    History

Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle was a retheme of Phantom Theater (1992-2002) and is located on the former site of Enchanted Voyage. Enchanted Voyage opened when Kings Island opened its doors in 1972. The ride took guests along scenes with several Hanna-Barbera characters. Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle marked the return of Hanna-Barbera IP in a Kings Island-dark ride.

Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle reuses the omnimver system that previously belonged to Phantom Theater. The ride system originally featured 55 gondalas. In the transition from Phantom Theater to Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle, 28 gondalas were removed so the interactive scenes were able to reset after each car. The speed of cars was increased to make up for the capacity loss.

During the 2009-2010 off season all installations of Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion operated by the Cedar Fair group were rethemed. All four of these rides are now called Boo Blasters on Boo Hill and the Scooby Doo characters are replaced by characters from the general Ghost Blasters rides.
