Description
The Scenic Railway was a wooden roller coaster at Ludlow Lagoon, sporting an out-and-back design. The curve at the far end of the coaster was taken through an enclosed building, wherein the train would rise two stories for the return trip. The interior was an electrically lit tunnel themed as a trip through the 4 seasons.
A picture of one of the scenes is shown in the documentary A Ride Through Ludlow Lagoon.
History
It was built in 1895 by LaMarcus A. Thompson and was one of the first rides at the Ludlow Lagoon.
Ludlow Lagoon opened in 1894 and closed in 1917 after a series of catastrophes, prohibition, and the outbreak of World War I.
