Description
The Mail Rail takes visitors through some of the tunnels once used on London's extensive mail-carrying subway, using specially built trains and a running narration.
Around the holidays, a special Christmas version of the ride runs, with modified scenes.
Even though the whole ride is enclosed (and in fact underground), this still counts as a semi-dark ride rather then a dark ride. That is because it was built inside former underground railway lines and large parts of the ride takes place in the tunnels, without any addition of scenes.
History
The metro system originally opened in 1927 and operated until 2003, when it was abandoned. In 2017, a section at the Mount Pleasant station was used for this new ride, as part of the new Postal Museum in Clerkenwell.
