Description
El Paso Special is an interactive dark ride in Mexican theme. Guests ride through a plaza, saloon, witness a bank robbery and end up in the mines. The final scene depicts the Battle of the Alamo.
Shooting the targets will trigger motion of the animatronics and tally up a score which is displayed on a screen near the end. The colour of the target determines the amount of points it gives:
- Green: 50 points
- Yellow: 100 points
- Red: 150 points
History
When El Paso Special opened in 1988, it was the first interactive dark ride in Europe (and possibly the world). Originally the ride did not keep track of scores. In 2013 El Paso Special was refurbished with a new interactive shooting system by Lagotronics Projects, during which the scoring system was added. Also the pneumatic system was replaced by Metal Work.
The front of the building was refurbished in 1998.
