From today, the brand new Legoland Discovery Center Bay Area (Milpitas, CA) has opened its door to the public. The new indoor park is located in the Bay Area, near San Jose. The park is similar to the other Legoland Discovery Centers, including a Miniland, a 3D Cinema, a few small attractions and, most notably, an interactive dark ride. This park includes an Imagination Express ride, a new series of dark rides which is installed in more recent Legoland Discovery Centers. The park was originally scheduled to open in 2020, but was delayed because of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Since the first Legoland Discovery Centre opened in Berlin (Germany) in 2005, more than 25 of these indoor parks have emerged all around the globe. All of them included an installation of the same interactive dark ride, designed by Alterface and ETF Ride Systems, called Kingdom Quest. In 2017, the Legoland Discovery Center Philadelphia launched a brand new dark ride called Imagination Express. This ride is designed by the same companies, though it has a completely different theme. After Philadelphia, the new Discovery Centre in Shenzhen (China) also received a dark ride of this new series, and the installation in California is the third in row. Further installations will follow this year in New York (NY, USA) and Scheveningen (The Netherlands).
