Intamin and ETF Ride Systems present a new ride concept that combines a trackless dark ride vehicle with coaster-like motion. The system, called the Multi Dimension Mover, is the first technical collaboration between the two companies since ETF Ride Systems became part of the Intamin group in 2024.
Following a series of teasers on social media, Intamin Amusement Rides and ETF Ride Systems have announced a new product in a press release: the Multi Dimension Mover. Recent developments by Intamin such as special flume elements and the Multi Dimension Coaster (used on for example Uncharted: El Enigma de Penitence) highlight the trend of integrating special elements in classic ride types. Their collaboration with Dutch ride manufacturer ETF Ride Systems applies the same principle to the classic car dark ride, creating a successor to Intamin’s Multi Motion Dark Ride, which has been part of their catalogue for several years (like Pharaoh’s Fury).

The Multi Dimension Mover builds on ETF’s omnidirectional trackless technology, which the company revealed at the IAAPA Expo Europe 2024 in Amsterdam. The vehicle can rotate on the spot, drift, and perform rapid orientation changes. Both the chassis and the cabin can rotate up to 10 rpm each, reaching a combined rotation of 20 rpm when working together. An optional motion platform adds tilt and roll of up to 8 degrees.

A notable feature is the inclusion of launch sections, where the trackless vehicles connect to a guided segment and seem to be accelerated by a pinch wheel drive. The companies indicate launch speeds of up to 36 km/h, significantly faster than standard dark rides. In addition, the concept can use elements from Intamin’s Multi Dimension Coaster line, such as sudden drops.

The system supports interactive add-ons including shooters, pointing devices or buttons, and the vehicle can be themed to match any storyline. The video accompanying the reveal also shows the possibility of using a vehicle for scenery purposes only, by placing an animatronic on top. Power is supplied through onboard supercapacitors and batteries.
The reveal coincides with the start of IAAPA Expo 2025 in Orlando, which takes place this week. Both companies are presenting the Multi Dimension Mover at the show floor. While remaining a separate and independent organisation, ETF Ride Systems became part of the Intamin group in 2024. As of yet, no installations that will make use of the Multi Dimension Mover have been announced.
