Europa-Park’s CEO Michael Mack presented the first official concept art for their upcoming ride Grand Prix EDventure. The name of the ride was already revealed in October. This new show ride will replace the Journey to Rulantica revolving theatre that opened back in 2018 and is one of the novelties for 2025, the year in which Europa-Park turns 50.
Journey to Rulantica was one of the many rethemed versions of the ”Drehtheater” (Rotating Theatre). The original opening date of the revolving theatre was in 1990 with the Lila Geheimnis (Purple Secret) animatronic show, themed around the making of Milka chocolate. The inside of the theatre changed no less than 5 times over the years, with its up until recently last incarnation revolving around the newly opened Rulantica water park.
Grand Prix EDventure will utilise the new Gameplay Theatre ride system. It will be the second installation of this system, the first one being the also yet to open Ghostly Manor at Pautons Park. The Gameplay Theatre is a variation on the revolving theatre that features rotating cars, allowing for different scenes on both an inside and outside ring. The attraction, built my Mack Rides, is also interactive, with Lagotronics Projects supplying the interactive components.
The ride will be themed to ”Grand Prix of Europe”, an animated movie based on Europa-Park’s mascots Ed Euromaus and Edda Euromausi. The movie is a joined venture by Mack Magic and Warner Bros. It is set to release in the summer 2025, with an abridged version coming to the park’s Magic Cinema 4D.
