Walt Disney World’s Epcot is now pre-opening their newest dark ride: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. While the official opening is set for October 1st, lucky visitors of Epcot are able to ride it as of yesterday. The new dark ride is based on the Ratatouille animation movie by Pixar from 2007.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is almost an exact copy of Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy in Walt Disney Studios (Disneyland Resort Paris – France). It tells the story of Remy, a rat with great taste and cooking skills that becomes an unusual help in a famous restaurant in Paris. The ride incorporates 3D screens into physical scenes and immerses riders into a world where they are the size of a rat.
Just like the counterpart in France, the ride uses a trackless, motion-based car ride system, enhancing the experience of the riders. A soft opening is often used to train staff and fine tune the ride. A ride can be closed without notice or given reason during a soft opening. Epcot will officially open the ride on October 1st.
