During a press conference at the IAAPA Expo, DOF Robotics revealed a dark ride vehicle. While the company is mainly known for turnkey show rides, it is now offering a highly customisable trackless vehicle.

DOF Robotics introduced a new trackless dark ride vehicle at this year’s IAAPA Expo in Orlando, adding a new product to their line of motion-based attractions. The Turkish company is known in the industry for producing turnkey motion systems with media content, for example Digital Park: Mission Moon.

The new dark ride vehicle was revealed during a press conference at the trade show. It is advertised as a trackless system with projection mapping support, a 360-degree rotation platform, and a three-degree-of-freedom motion base. Each vehicle can hold a maximum of four to eight people, and has a stated capacity of 200 riders per hour. The model shown at the event was decorated as a black, steampunk-style car with an interactive shooting system, but the company said the ride can be customised for many different themes and stories. For the expo, they showcased an accompanying storyline about a time machine.

The company brought two other attractions to their IAAPA booth for attendants to try: Mars Odyssey, an immersive tunnel experience, and Hurricane, a VR simulator ride that has been part of their catalogue for several years. As of yet, no installations that will make use of the new dark ride vehicle have been announced.
