In an instagram post promoting the construction of their new roller coaster, Universal Studios Hollywood has announced the upcoming closure of one of the experiences featured in the Studio Tour. The construction of the new Fast and Furious rollercoaster means the end of the Fast & Furious – Supercharged-segment of the tram tour.
Starting all the way back in 1964, the Studio Tour takes guests on a narrated trip through various backlots and sets of the film studio where many famous movies and TV shows have been made. As it is an active filming studio, the route is prone to change based on which sections are currently being used for various productions. Alongside the actual production sets there are several smaller experiences and tableaus based on properties such as King Kong, Jaws and Jurassic Park.

Debuting in 2015, “Fast & Furious – Supercharged” became the grand finale of the Studio Tour, offering an exciting, virtual high-speed 3D chase inspired by the popular Fast & Furious films. The experience placed the 4 car tram vehicles on a simulator platform alongside some of the largest 3D projection screens in the world utilizing 18 4k projectors to simulate the experience of racing through the streets of Los Angeles while being attacked by both ground and air vehicles. There is also a stand alone version of the attraction in Universal Studios Orlando, however there has been no word on that version closing.

The attraction has been announced to have its last performance on March 10, 2025, making way for the brand new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift rollercoaster based on the same franchise. There are currently no details on what will be replacing it on the tour, however Universal has constantly been on the forefront of pushing technological boundaries, so it will be exciting to see what they add.
